This section is dedicated to the realizations, epiphanies, the failures, the “hmmmm, I wonder if that’s part of the problem?” moments, the “well let me try this instead” ideas, and all the random thoughts in between.
This is where we brain storm and try to grow. I believe Reading and Running (well, exercise in general) are crucial to healthy and successful growth, however it’s only part of answer. I don’t even know if it’s really an answer, maybe more like preventative actions to keep us from falling down a very deep rabbit hole. I suggest those are preventative because for all humans, when you stop paying attention to your health (mind and body) different diseases and negative mind sets start settling in and taking over.
I have been listening to podcasts and started doing research on people, big and small, who have ADHD, ADD, Autism, etc, trying to understand how their Minds work. So far what stands out to me the most is, it seems the biggest challenge they have heightened sensitivity, emotional and physical, as well as major focusing issues. Which kind of makes sense. If I was acutely aware of how people feel, what they are doing, how they are doing it, and oh look at the pretty bird in the tree outside, I would have a very difficult time focusing as well. Heck, I’m only partially aware of everything around me and sometimes have to tell myself several times to focus on the task at hand to get through it. Then there’s the other extreme, the hardcore daydreamers. They usually still have some over heightened sensitivity, but its tends to be more physical and they get so wrapped up in the minds they lose focus of the real world. Ninja D actually tells me he goes “blinded” for a little bit.
In case you can’t tell, I have one on each extreme. Many people can relate to my kids and to my position as a parent, I hope that our lessons as we grow can help you and your family in becoming more balanced and successful.
